Research & Massage Therapy Education - 10/5/15

Important questions to explore: How does research inform what we do as educators? How can we integrate more research into our program? How does the lack of research impact our profession? Christopher A. Moyer, Ph.D. is a psychologist whose research is focused on numerous aspects of massage therapy, especially its effectiveness in reducing anxiety and depression. He has also conducted research on the effect of meditation on brain function. He is the co-editor of Massage Therapy: Integrating Research and Practice and serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies. He established one of the nation’s only dedicated massage therapy research laboratories, and is an expert in conducting research with college undergraduates. His research and educational initiatives have been supported by grants from the Massage Therapy Foundation, The Trust for the Meditation Process, and the National Science Foundation.
