Lecture # 152 - Benedek Valko (UW Madison) 5/6/2016

Benedek Valko (UW Madison) talking about "The coupon collector's problem" Imagine that a cereal company includes one of n toys in every box with each toy being equally likely. Of course, we would like to collect all the toys. On average how many boxes will we need to buy? This is one of the classical problems of probability theory which has already showed up 300 years ago. In this talk we will discuss the solution and look at some generalizations. Questions? Contact John Grade at (608) 345-1519.
